Rise in racist attacks in Northern Ireland

Police figures in the North show there were nearly 450 racist attacks between April and December last year, a rise of almost 150 on the same period the previous year.

Police figures in the North show there were nearly 450 racist attacks between April and December last year, a rise of almost 150 on the same period the previous year.

To highlight the issue, the PSNI is distributing posters with the message 'Hate crime is wrong' in Belfast, Derry, Craigavon, Ballymena, and Dungannon.

The campaign is also aimed against homophobia, sectarianism and crimes against the disabled.
