Updated: 09:14, Thursday, 2 November 2006

The search and rescue team in Co Kerry has finished its second day of searching for a Swedish man who went missing on the McGillicuddy Reeks.

More than 100 people have been involved in a blanket search of approximately 35 square kilometres.

Those taking part are members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team, as well as mountain rescue teams from Wicklow, Tipperary and mountaineering club members from around the country.

Seven specially trained sniffer dogs, including a dog team from Wales, have also been taking part.

The search will resume tomorrow at first light.

The missing man is 22-year-old Olos Janson, an experienced climber who learned hiking skills during his military service in the Swedish army.
