Dáil passes Health Amendment Bill

The Health (Amendment) (No 2) Bill, which provides for elderly people to be charged for long-term care in public nursing homes, passed all stages in the Dáil this afternoon.

It now passes to the Seanad for debate tomorrow afternoon.

Under the bill, an elderly person will be obliged to pay up to 80% of their old-age pension to their health board, leaving them with a minimum of €5 per day.
