A High Court judge has ruled against residents of Duleek in Co Meath who were trying to stop an incinerator being built in the area.

However, it seems almost certain that the case will now be going to the Supreme Court.

Pat O'Brien of the No Incinerator Alliance said he was happy that the case would be going to the Supreme Court, as it was an issue of huge national importance.

Indaver Ireland, which is proposing to build the incinerator, welcomed today's ruling.

The company said the project had been discussed and cleared by Meath Co Council, An Bord Pleanála and now the High Court.
