Gardaí fear a criminal feud in north-west Dublin may escalate following the killing of a 23-year-old man in Mulhuddart early this morning.
Paul Cunningham was shot in his home in Drumheath Avenue in Mulhuddart at around 3am this morning. He was shot at least twice as he lay in bed with his partner and 18-month-old child.
The two assailants are believed to have escaped on foot.
Emergency services were called and the victim was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital where he later died.
Gardaí suspected Mr Cunningham of being a drug dealer and have linked his death to a criminal feud. They are appealing for witnesses.
A post mortem examination has been carried out by the State Pathologist, Dr Maria Cassidy.
