The United Nations made today Universal Children's day, to highlight the welfare of children.

20 November marks the day when the UN adopted the declaration of the rights of the child in 1959 and the convention on the rights of the child in 1989.

Celebrating the rights of the child was the theme of a special exhibition in St Stephen's Green today.

The Coalition Against the Deportation of Irish Children is calling on the Irish Government to make sure it treats all children in this country equally, regardless of where their parents were born.

It says the Justice Minister has a policy of deporting migrant parents of Irish children.
