The two men who were electrocuted in Askeaton in Co Limerick last night have been named as 41-year-old Tomas Liston and 36-year-old Niall Fitzpatrick.

Mr Liston was from Croagh in Co Limerick and Mr Fitzpatrick was from Broadford in the county.

Two others are recovering from shock and burns following the electrical accident. They are Mr Liston's 16-year-old son and his brother, Seamus Liston.

The accident happened as the men were erecting lighting for mourners attending the wake of a young man at around 5pm yesterday.

The lighting was for a temporary car park in a field adjoining the house where the wake for 20-year-old Billy Sheehan was taking place.

The men were electrocuted when a tower light came in contact with an overhead power cable. The accident resulted in a power cut in the Askeaton area last night.
