Palestinian leaders arrived in Paris to see President Yasser Arafat tonight, despite a scathing attack by his wife who accused them of plotting to 'bury him alive'.
The delegation, including Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei, Mr Arafat's deputy Mahmoud Abbas, and Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath, had initially scrapped the plan because of the objections by Mr Arafat's wife, Suha.
But they later decided that they would go ahead with it, and were joined by the speaker of parliament, Rawhi Fattuh.
Mr Arafat's condition is stable, according to a statement this evening by the doctor who is treating him.
But Christian Estripeau, chief doctor at the Percy hospital, said visits to the 75-year-old were being restricted because of his condition.
Yasser Arafat was flown to the Percy Military Hospital at Clarmart, on the outskirts of Paris, ten days ago.
Initially doctors believed the Palestinian President was suffering from a blood-related disease. However, there has been no official announcement of the cause of his illness.
