The Cambridge laboratory central to the Waterford Crystal horse doping allegations has said the person who took delivery of the B sample at the premises last month was not a staff member.

Steve Maynard, Director of Drugs Surveillance with the forensic laboratory, told RTÉ News that the person who collected the urine sample from a DHL courier did not show a proper laboratory staff ID card.

The DHL courier company said it was authorised to deliver the sample to an HSL representative outside the security barrier of the laboratory complex but Mr Maynard told RTÉ News that nobody at the laboratory could have done this.
