The French military hospital which has been treating Palestinian President, Yasser Arafat, says his condition has not deteriorated and remains stable.

Earlier, a spokeswoman for Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat denied that he is brain dead, but admitted he is critically ill.

Leila Shahid said that the 75-year-old was 'between life and death' and in a reversible coma in a hospital near Paris.

Doctors at the Percy Military Training Hospital in the Clamart suburb of Paris are expected to give more details today about the medical condition of the Palestinian Authority President.

Some sources claimed last night that he had already died, among them the Luxembourg Prime Minister, Jean-Claude Juncker, who withdrew his assertion a little while later.
