Ahern awaiting advice on nursing charges

The Taoiseach has told the Dáil that he is awaiting advice from the Attorney General on the legality of levying charges on elderly people in long-term nursing care.

Bertie Ahern was replying to reports that thousands of people over 70 in nursing homes have been illegally charged by health boards.

Mr Ahern added that entitlements were being looked at.
