Irish author Colm Tóibín has been shortlisted for the Man Booker literary award.
His book, The Master, joins five others in the running for the £50,000 prize which will be awarded on 19 October.
Bookies' favourite David Mitchell also made it on to the shortlist with his novel Cloud Atlas.
The other four authors are Achmat Dangor for Bitter Fruit, Sarah Hall for The Electric Michelangelo, Alan Hollinghurst for The Line of Beauty and Gerard Woodward for I'll Go To Bed At Noon.
The author's 1999 novel, The Blackwater Lightship, was also shortlisted for the prize but did not win.
