The Progressive Democrats are to contest the by-election in Kildare North resulting from Charlie McCreevy's departure to Europe.
The Progressive Democrats are to contest the by-election in Kildare North resulting from Charlie McCreevy's departure to Europe.
Senator Kate Walsh has announced that she will be standing for the seat when the writ is moved. It is thought the by-election will take place early next year.
Ms Walsh was a long-standing local councillor in the Celbridge area prior to her nomination to the Senate.
She polled some 12% of the total vote when she stood for the PDs in the last general election.
