The Government has set new dates for tribunals to finish their work, after which the fees paid to legal teams will be drastically cut.

Reduced fees have already been announced for any new tribunals. After talks with their respective chairmen, existing tribunals have been given dates to finish their work or face the reduced fees.

These closure dates range from 1 December next for the Murphy Inquiry into child sexual abuse in Ferns, to 30 September 2006 for the Morris tribunal into garda activities in Donegal.

A date for the Mahon tribunal has yet to be set.
