A Pakistani national and a US citizen have been arrested in New York over an alleged plot to blow up a subway station in the city.

A spokesperson for the New York police commissioner said it was clear that they intended to cause damage and kill people.
There is no immediate evidence that the pair are connected to al-Qaeda or any international terror groups.
