The dissident republican Bobby Tohill has had charges against him dropped at Belfast Magistrates' Court.

Mr Tohill is at the centre of an alleged kidnapping that was blamed on the IRA by the Independent Monitoring Commission in a report on the incident.

He had faced three charges, including threatening to kill a man last March.

Mr Tohill said afterwards that the charges had been false. He added that they were part of an attempt to force him to make a complaint against four men charged with his alleged kidnapping.
