Girl rescued in Waterford mountain fall

An eight-year-old girl has been rescued from the Mahon Falls Mountain in Co Waterford.

An eight-year-old girl has been rescued from the Mahon Falls Mountain in Co Waterford.

The young girl, who is believed to be a foreign tourist, received serious arm and leg injuries after falling on steep ground. She has been airlifted to Waterford Regional hospital.

The rescue was a joint effort by the South-East Mountain Rescue Team and the Irish Coastguard.

The alarm was raised at about 3.30pm this afternoon during a climb with her family.
