A newspaper report in Sudan says the army has vowed to fight any foreign forces sent into its western Darfur region.

It has also described a UN resolution, giving it 30 days to resolve the crisis there, as 'a declaration of war'.

The Sudanese government had dismissed the resolution and said that it would instead implement a 90-day programme agreed earlier with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Meanwhile, the government in Eritrea has said it is missing out on desperately needed humanitarian aid because world attention has been focused on the crisis in Darfur.
