Thousands of members of the US Democratic Party are preparing for the start of the party's convention in Boston.
Massachusetts senator John Kerry will be officially endorsed as the party's presidential nominee on Thursday, with North Carolina senator John Edwards as his running mate.
The conference has attracted much international interest, with some 700 visitors from about 120 countries in attendance.
Among them are 195 ambassadors, ten former presidents or prime ministers, a dozen sitting ministers and leaders of parliament, and 500 political leaders.
