Ahern apology on abuse 'momentous'

The Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse has been told that the apology from the Taoiseach was a 'momentous step', which gave hope and encouragement to people who were abused.

The Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse has been told that the apology from the Taoiseach was a 'momentous step', which gave hope and encouragement to people who were abused.

Mick Waters of SOCA UK told the commission the apology was well received by the majority of victims, and let them know they are believed.

Michael O'Brien of the Right to Peace group said it is also important that victims receive an apology from the perpetrators of the abuse.
