The Co Clare doctor who was struck off the medical register recently for professional misconduct has spoken publicly about the controversy for the first time.
Dr Pascal Carmody told RTÉ News that he will appeal the decision of the Medical Council which recommended a lifetime ban on the GP.
The decision followed complaints that his alternative medicine treatment had given false hope to terminally ill cancer patients.
Dr Carmody said he never said the laser therapy was a cure for cancer and that he still stands over the treatment.
