The Government has decided to proceed to finalise the project agreement with Jarvis plc on the €60m Cork School of Music.
The decision was taken this evening following consideration of a memo from the Department of Education and Science.
However, a spokesperson for the department said that the normal private/public partnership execution process will require the financial institution backing Jarvis plc on the project to be a signatory to the actual contract.
There had been growing fears that the project might be shelved again because of problems being experienced by the Jarvis parent company in the UK.
