FG MEP to contest driving chargesThursday 08 July 2004 19.53
The Fine Gael MEP, Avril Doyle, is to fully contest charges of dangerous, careless and inconsiderate driving.
The Dublin District Court fixed 10 December for the full hearing of the case which will involve four witnesses.
Ms Doyle is facing three charges arising from an accident on the M1/M50 at Santry in Dublin in 2002.
Earlier this year, a bench warrant was issued for Ms Doyle's arrest when she failed to turn up in court to answer the charges. She later explained that a diary error had led to the mix-up.
The MEP was in court this morning when the prosecution was granted an amendment to the location of the accident giving rise to the charges.
The court accommodated Ms Doyle's request for a Friday hearing date because of her commitments in Europe.
