Five held in cross-border fuel fraud raids

Five people have been arrested as part of fuel fraud investigations by the PSNI, gardaí, the Criminal Assets Bureau and Customs officers.

Five people have been arrested as part of fuel fraud investigations by the PSNI, gardaí, the Criminal Assets Bureau and Customs officers.

Businesses and homes in the Newry and South Armagh areas have been raided in 'Operation Nursery', and over 100,000 litres of fuel and four laundering plants have been seized.

Three people were arrested in the raids.

While most of the seizures occurred in south Armagh, gardaí have taken three trucks and two cars from a farmhouse north of Dundalk, near the Ballymascanlon roundabout.
 

Two other searches were carried out in the Co Louth area and two other people were arrested.

A man and a woman are being questioned in Kells Garda Station.

It is believed a substantial amount of cash was also seized by gardaí.
