Several relatives of victims of the 1974 Dublin and Monaghan bombings have threatened the Attorney General with legal action over the lack of a public inquiry into the bombings.

The relatives sent a letter to the Attorney General's office threatening to take legal action if a public inquiry is not set up.

A Government spokeswoman said the Government was not in a position to act until the Oireachtas had debated the Joint Committee report on the Barron inquiry into the bombings.
