The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Brian Cowen, has said he is ordering a review of the use of the diplomatic bag to circulate party political material.
The move follows criticism of Fianna Fáil for sending party political material to diplomatic staff abroad by diplomatic post.
Speaking at a Fianna Fáil press conference, Mr Cowen said there was nothing improper about the use of the diplomatic bag in this way, but that in the interests of clarity he was ordering a review with a view to establishing guidelines.
