Trade Unions at Independent Newspapers are to ballot for industrial action in a dispute over staffing.
The decision was taken by the company's group of unions at a meeting in Dublin.
Independent Newspapers is planning 200 redundancies by outsourcing functions carried out by clerical, administrative, telesales, finance and general operative staff.
Employees who fail to apply for a severance package by Friday have been told they face compulsory redundancy.
Balloting will take place over the next three days. 160 workers attended today's meeting.
