A new EU study has shown that one in 16 children in Northern Europe who use Internet chat rooms have met up with somebody they met online.

The study revealed that 46% of children had been approached to meet up and that 14% of these had actually met somebody.

Only 4% of parents believed that their children had done so.

A further study has revealed that parents do not think their children know what to do if a situation on the Internet makes them uncomfortable.
