35 Nigerian asylum seekers are repatriated

Thirty-five failed asylum seekers are being repatriated to Nigeria on a charter flight that left Dublin for Lagos early today.

Thirty-five failed asylum seekers were repatriated to Nigeria on a charter flight that left Dublin for Lagos early today.

Ireland and Nigeria have a repatriation agreement and the deportation took place in co-operation with the Nigerian Embassy in Dublin. The deportees included four children.

About 20 gardaí and a medical team were also on board the flight. Two garda detectives were already in Lagos to help with procedures.
