Updated: 16:54, Wednesday, 31 March 2004

A group of 61 asylum seekers were deported to eastern Europe this morning.

The group of men, women and children from Romania and Moldova was flown out of Dublin Airport on a specially chartered plane early today.

Most were arrested in Dublin, but some were detained in Galway, Cork, Limerick, Wexford and Tipperary.

This is the second group of failed asylum seekers to be flown out of Ireland in the past seven weeks.
