Man in custody over Harron murder

A 21-year-old man has appeared in court accused of murdering Attracta Harron who disappeared from her home in Co Tyrone last December.

A 21-year-old man has appeared in court in Omagh accused of murdering Attracta Harron who disappeared from her home in Co Tyrone last December.

Trevor William Hamilton, of Concess Road, Sion Mills in Co Tyrone, was remanded in custody until 22 April.

A Detective Inspector told the court that when charged, Mr Hamilton made no reply.

The officer said that although Ms Harron's body had never been found, police were satisfied that a murder had occurred.

The 65-year-old retired librarian from Strabane was last seen returning from mass across the border in Lifford, Co Donegal.

A 53-year-old woman, who had been arrested on Friday in connection with the investigation, was released without charge.
