SIPTU's CIÉ strike committee has adjourned its meeting at Liberty Hall which was discussing Thursday's planned bus and rail dispute.
Officials said the committee would meet again at 2pm tomorrow.
The committee met to discuss the contents of a letter from the Taoiseach which was aimed at reassuring workers about standards of employment amid plans to break up the company.
Earlier, SIPTU headquarters cancelled a planned six-hour stoppage at Dublin, Shannon and Cork airports after receiving what it described as clear and specific assurances from Mr Ahern.
However, the moved angered SIPTU's aviation branch which threatened to go ahead with the action unless further clarification from the Taoiseach was received.
