Guantanamo 4 ex-detainees freed
They were among five men repatriated to Britain by the US authorities this week after being held at Camp Delta following their capture in Afghanistan two years ago.
One was let go shortly after their arrival on Tuesday night. The others were released from Paddington Green Police Station last night.
One lawyer said their release after 30 hours in Britain made a complete nonsense of their detention in Cuba.
Four more British nationals are still being held at Guantanamo without any prospect of immediate release. To highlight such cases, families of European detainees have held a news conference outside the United Nations in New York.
Meanwhile the family of one of the released men, 26-year-old Londoner Tarek Dergoul, has engaged the services of publicist Max Clifford to handle media inquiries. He said his client appeared to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
