Falluja Police at scene of gun battle
Iraqi officials in the town of Falluja say that at least 22 people were killed and 35 were wounded when dozens of guerrillas attacked security compounds, freeing at least 20 prisoners.
In a daylight raid involving guns and rocket propelled grenades, the town's police station, a compound for the Iraqi Civil Defence Corps and the mayor's office were targeted in what is described as a closely coordinated assault.
The dead include 14 policemen, four civilians and three attackers.
The incident happened in the town of Falluja about 30 miles west of Baghdad.
Meanwhile, the security situation in Iraq will dominate discussions taking place in Kuwait involving Iraq's interim foreign minister and his counterparts from neighbouring countries.
It will be the first time the Iraqi minister, Hoshyar Zebari, has met his regional counterparts.
