Micheál Martin Ban date may be set soon
The start date for the controversial smoking ban could be announced next week, as the deadline for EU objections in relation to enclosed work spaces passes today.
The ban was originally due to be introduced on 1 January after it was signed into law last October.
The Minister for Health, Micheál Martin, is expected to give at least one month's grace before the ban is implemented, pushing it back to March or April.
However, objections from the EU and legal challenges could stall the process further.
