Mr Justice Barr Tribunal continues
John Carthy's sister, Marie, made the accusation after legal representatives for the Garda Emergency Response Unit and over 20 other gardaí involved in the siege in Abbeylara, failed to turn up at today's sitting.
A number of individual members of the ERU gathered in the public gallery at the inquiry into the shooting of Mr Carthy four years ago.
Mr Justice Robert Barr heard evidence from Professor Jack Philips, a consultant neurosurgeon at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, who examined x-rays of Mr Carthy's body which were taken at the post mortem examination.
Gardaí have 'nothing to hide'
Earlier, the GRA said it had nothing to hide from the tribunal, and fervently hoped the inquiry would continue.
Longford-Westmeath GRA representative Chris Lee said, after an exchange between the chairman and their counsel, that they felt they were not getting proper representation.
He said the GRA felt that it was not correct for the chairman to tell their counsel to sit down on a number of occasions when he was trying to make representations.
Mr Lee said a perception had been created that the gardaí involved in the siege did not want to answer questions.
He said over 95% of gardaí who worked in Abbeylara had given evidence to the inquiry and been vigorously examined by legal representatives from all sides, i.e. giving their full co-operation.
He said he hoped the withdrawal of the gardaí from the tribunal would be a temporary thing.
