Funeral of Archbishop to be held Saturday

The body of Archbishop Michael Courtney, who was murdered in central Africa last Monday, will arrive at Dublin Airport tomorrow morning.

The body of Archbishop Michael Courtney, who was murdered in central Africa last Monday, will arrive at Dublin Airport tomorrow morning.

His funeral will take place on Saturday in his home town of Nenagh in Co Tipperary.

Archbishop Courtney was the Papal Nuncio to Burundi.

He died after being shot in an ambush thought to have been mounted by anti-government rebels.

In Rome, Pope John Paul has paid tribute to the Archbishop during a New Year mass, saying he had had a mission to promote dialogue and reconciliation.
