Kiely endorses Hanly report

The Department of Health Chief Medical Officer has endorsed the controversial Hanly Report on hospital reforms.

The Department of Health Chief Medical Officer has endorsed the controversial Hanly Report on hospital reforms.

Dr Jim Kiely said there was no viable alternative to the plan, which aims to establish regional centres of excellence and downgrade the emergency services in many smaller hospitals.

The Minister's medical adviser said the plan is a very significant step towards a better hospital service, and that we are too dependent on junior doctors.
