Fine Gael has launched 'ripoff.ie', a website for dissatisfied consumers who feel that they have been overcharged.

Inaugurating the website, party leader Enda Kenny said it would allow the public to connect directly with the political process via the Internet.

The launch was part of a campaign by the party to highlight overcharging and bad value. Fine Gael intends to focus initially on the cost of insurance.

Speaking at the function, Fine Gael Spokesperson on Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Phil Hogan, called for an EU-wide market for insurance products so that Irish consumers can seek quotes from companies across Europe.
