Emergency services at scene of blast
An Arab newspaper based in London has said it has received a claim of responsibility from the Al-Qaeda network this evening for the bombings of two synagogues in Istanbul yesterday.
In the alleged statement e-mailed to the newspaper, Al-Qaeda also warned of more attacks around the world.
Police in Turkey say early investigations have revealed that the two truck bomb attacks were the work of suicide bombers.
At least 23 people were killed in the attacks, with hundreds more injured.
Earlier reports in Turkey said four people who were arrested in connection with the bombings were released without charge.
Also this evening a London-based Saudi newspaper said it had received a claim of responsibility from Al-Qaeda for last week's suicide bombing of the Italian police post in Nasiriyah in southern Iraq, in which 19 Italians were killed.
It said the message warned of an attack in the heart of Tokyo if Japan sends troops to join the US-led coalition in Iraq.
