It is reported talks between the Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze and opposition leaders, who are demanding his resignation over disputed general election results, have ended without agreement.
The crisis talks took place as crowds of demonstrators outside the parliament building in Tbilisi said they would not go away until the president resigned.
They said last Sunday's poll was rigged in favour of the president's party and should be annulled. Earlier the defence minister said the crisis was 'running out of control'.
