Climber dies after fall on Carrauntoohil

A climber has been killed after falling on Carrauntoohil in County Kerry.

A climber has been killed after falling on Carrauntoohil in County Kerry. emergency services say the man fell at least 200 feet.

The man who died was aged 21 and from County Cork.

He was part of a group completing a climb on the McGillycuddy Reeks when the accident happened on Hags Glen Ridge at around 3pm. The Kerry Mountain Rescue Team reached the scene shortly before 6pm.

Earlier, a coast guard rescue helicopter failed to reach him in weather conditions described as deplorable.
