Attacks jeopardising rebuilding
The US Deputy Defence Secretary, Paul Wolfowitz, has acknowledged that continuing attacks in Iraq are jeopardising attempts to rebuild the country.
Speaking in Washington, he stood by the decsion to go to war but added that the priority now was to have more Iraqis working in the country's security forces.
Mr Wolfowitz, who recently returned from a fact-finding trip to Iraq, also underlined a list of US achievements in the country.
These included the recruitment of 100,000 new Iraqi security personnel, the establishment of a new judiciary and a free press, and the re-opening of schools and hospitals.
