Californian fires
Firefighter dies
A firefighter has been killed and two others were seriously injured while attempting to bring one of southern California's bushfires under control.
It is the first reported firecrew fatality in the outbreaks that have been raging from north of Los Angeles to the Mexican border for nearly a week.
It brings the overall fire-related death toll in the state to 18.
The wildfires have destroyed nearly 2,000 homes and damaged more than 600,000 acres of land and forestry.
