The two girls killed in a road accident in Co Clare last night have been named. They were 16-year-old Stacy Haugh and 13-year-old Laurna Mahoney, both from the Marian estate in Kilkee.
Three youths were injured in the crash near Carrigaholt.
The 15-year-old driver of the car, who has not yet been named, is believed to be from Galway. The others, aged 16 and 11, are from west Clare.
All three were travelling in a 1984 Opel Kadet car which Gardaí believe lost control on a bend and hit the sea wall on the outskirts of the village.
It happened on the main road to Kilkee at about 8.30pm last night.
The two girls were killed instantly. The three youths were taken to the Co Hospital in Ennis.
The youngest, a brother of one of the dead girls, was later moved to Our Lady Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin in Dublin where he is being treated for a number of fractures.
It is understood the car was purchased in Galway yesterday for ¤150 by one of four teenagers - a 19-year-old girl and three boys.
They drove the car to Kilkee and the young woman and a boy got out and three young people, the two girls and a brother of one of them, got in.
