ICTU gives full backing for smoking ban

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has formally endorsed the proposed ban on smoking in the workplace.

General Secretary David Begg dismissed fears of significant job losses in the hospitality sector or in tobacco manufacturing as a result of the ban.

This afternoon, union representatives said it was time to concentrate on how the ban would be enforced.
