Donegal publicans reject smoke ban

The Donegal Branch of the Irish Vintners' Federation has voted unanimously against implementing the ban on smoking in pubs, due to come into force on 1 January.

The Donegal Branch of the Irish Vintners' Federation has voted unanimously against implementing the ban on smoking in the workplace, due to come into effect in the New Year.

Over 100 publicans attended a meeting in Ballybofey on Tuesday night to discuss the issue.

They expressed particular concern about how their proximity to the border could affect business.
