Gardaí find man's body in Finglas

Gardaí have begun a murder investigation after the body of a man in his 20s was discovered on waste ground in north Dublin.

Gardaí have begun a murder investigation after the body of a man in his 20s was discovered on waste ground in Finglas in north Dublin.

The body was found at around 1.15pm this afternoon at a place known as 'the trench'.

It is understood the man had been shot in an apparent execution.

Officers from the Divisional search team, who had been looking for the victim, found the body this afternoon.

The area was sealed off and a garda forensic team was called to attend.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.
