McAleese leaves on visit to China

The President Mrs Mary McAleese left Dublin around 2pm today for a state visit to China where she will promote business and trade links.

The President Mrs Mary McAleese left Dublin at around 2pm today for a state visit to China where she will promote business and trade links.

She will lead Ireland's largest ever trade deligation abroad. A total of 82 companies and institutions expect to conclude deals worth €40m during the visit.

The president will also meet the Chinese President and the Chinese Premier. Mrs McAleese returns home on 16 October.
