The leaders of the Ulster Unionist Party and Sinn Féin have listed some of the key problems they want resolved before a sustainable power sharing executive is restored in the North.

UUP leader David Trimble said that provided his concerns are addressed, his preference is for Assembly elections in November.

Mr Trimble said he wants an IRA statement that the war is over, an immediate end to all paramilitary activities as well as visible evidence of decommissioning.

Meanwhile, Mr Adams called for the transfer of power over justice and policing from Westminister to the North.

Mr Trimble has met Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams four times in thepast fortnight as efforts to restore the Northern Ireland Assembly step up a gear.
